the sliders came with the DPMs .. the Norgies came later

some little f***er borrowed my norgie and never gave it back. Oh well time to buy a buffalo with the voucher

In the Western Bde we have the Norwegan shirt and a rank slider.
But they there was a gap of about 8 months before we got hold of a rank slider each and about a 18 months before some got the norwegan shirt. If the situation in my unit is the same as in others about half have the shirt but the rest don't.

On another related thing. Anyone know what the story is with the issue of fleeces, (not norgies) or bush hats?In the summer we were expected to have our own and some of the lads had to wear their berets whilst on the ground?

Was issued with one at the time of being issued with DPMs. Subsequently got issued with 3 more. Now I need Cpl. stripes since I have been promoted ,and they are non existant.

Since when are we going to be issued with bush hats or fleeces?

The impression I got when I was issued with the Norweagan shirt was that I was lucky to get that, never mind the rest.

It is very hard to get much of anthing in the west. Most of us don't even have what we are supposed to. Don't even have a bag.

Aw..the poor diddums had to wear their berets? Ever hear of being prepared? In my day we didnt even have combats,but we still brought our own,whether bought borrowed or other..
Anyone who is expected to do tactics wearing a beret,should also be made wear a flourescent yellow jacket(no offence yellowjacket) so everyone knows where his section is...

Then he will come prepared the next time..

Bush hats can be got for less than the price of a pint,packet of fags or bottle of WKD. There is no excuse for not having one.

We dont need the Fleece. Most RDF units are on holidays over the cold winter months,and the Pullover is still on issue.

Next thing you will be expecting hot water bottles for your electric blanket.

Originally was issued with a set when the DPMs came about but as usual one is never enough.

Bought some and inherited some!

Still waiting for the fleece and Norgie........Probably get a reissue of DPMs before I get the cold weather stuff!

Well I got the norwegian when i went on a weeks duties with the pdf. this was also when i got my second issue of DPM's (you were there TIM) As for RM's I got one slider in 2002 and I still have it. although one of my fellow cpl's got pipped and another got the 3rd stripe so I'll se if I can acquire their RM's.

I have however been gifted a set of DPM raingear, an issue bush hat, and a fleece recently so i'm not to worried. Now for the DPM webbing when it comes out.

RM's are a bit funny aswell the army have no. 1's RM's and or Sliders for all uniforms but they are always in short supply. The Naval service and Air corps have No1 rm's, NO.1 sliders, Flight suit/Working dress sliders, AND subdued sliders for dpm's yet never seem to have a shortage!!
