Hold onto the people you have and recruit to fill gaps left by normal retirements. Of course holding onto the people we have is what the DoD doesn't seem to want to prioritise.
Or reorg the 2 Bdes so that the establishment is higher (sufficient to undertake the taskings) and recruit & retain to that figure

(remembering that the updated CS4 closely replicated the ECF and strength figures at the time of the reorg)

of course the other part is remembering we have approx a Bn overseas at any one time, plus at times 1 preparing to go and another one returning. Which means very approx a tour per (home) battalion every 3 years

    • Infantry is not the only corps to deploy abroad, currently there are 641 on deployment. This mean a rotation of 5 to 5.5 year rather than the 3 year if only the Infantry battalions are counted. BTW according to the BA recruitment site, a soldier in the BA should expect to be deployed about every 2-3 years.

true I was mistaken but that 641 figure means 20% of the PDF establishment (which includes a lot of senior officers, SNCOs, NS and AC personnel who don’t deploy) Are unavailable at any one time.

for some Corps and specialities it is much more frequent
