Just wondering about the title of Best PNCO. I'm going on the Pots Cse this year and wondering is it difficult to attain? I can imagine it all depends on certain factors like personal fitness, knowledge and the other students on the course. This year there are 2 PNCO plts, as far as I know, does that mean there are two Best PNCO awards?

There can only be one "Best Pnco" from each course.
Nominations will be submitted upwards from observations made by the ncos in the platoon. These observations combined with the results from the normal disciplines will dictate the winner.
Knowledge and personal fitness are a given. The ability to lead and to help others out when the going gets tough are traits a good nco should have.
I note from your signature that you intend to fail the course and remain a private. I would suggest a more positive attitude.....

That would appear to be a derogatory remark as against an attempt at humour. Derogatory remarks generally gain enemies or opponents.
See you at Easter "potential".

Lets stick to the thread.

This year will be a "stripes out of lucky bag" course so yes, Equalizer you'll get Best PNCO.
Note careful yet restrained use of sarcasm/irony. Some of the above statement may not be true."Are they trying to shoot down the other drone? "
"No, they're trying to fly the tank"

The only way to get best PNCO is to tell the instructors that "THEY ARE" wrong..... that you are right and that they are impeding your assention into the uper ranks of the reserve! Then you'll be asked to come back and instruct next year... trust me thats how it works... they want to see leadership and pig ignorance!Over the centuries, mankind has tried many ways of combating the forces of evil...prayer, fasting, good works and so on. Up until Doom, no one seemed to have thought about the double-barrel shotgun. Eat leaden death, demon...

I have to agree with TIM. As a future leader,it is important that you assert yourself immediately and demonstrate your capability to be equal to your instructors,and not subordinate to them. As an instructor myself I often lead students into a situation when they realise it would have been better to follow their initiative,instead of following my orders blindly(Marching into walls etc...)
Show them your willingness to correct them when they are wrong. Do not be afraid to use initiative either. A platoon may be a team,but a leader is an individual. You should demonstrate from the beginning that you are a leader,not a follower.
This will almost guarantee an appropriate reward,as well as the admiration of your fellow soldier.
Best of luck:-patriot:
Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

what a load of crap- is this really the way Potential courses are run- please tell me that this thread is humour
If you want to be the best student- then the way to do it is try your hardest at everything- do your best in everything- help the others in as much as you can-your instructors ( and please you lads be joking in your last comments) should be able to see the quality of your efforts- there is course commanders discretionary marks awarded for effort etc-
dont take on your instructors- remember you want to be an NCO, when your promoted would you take kindly to a PTE usurping your authority
If i jumped in the middle of a humourous thread forgive me, but if you boys werent joking, well ( this is where i would use a lot of curses)Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
