A mate of mine missed his fitness test for this years cadetship competition and never bothered to let them know as to why he didnt show. Anyways he was under the impression that once he missed it he was out of the competition, as per letter he got, but alas a phonecall came asking him if he would still like to do it, to which he replied he will. Is this an indication that the failure rate has gone up and a lot of retests have to be taken or would it be possible to assume that the competition is down this year? Anyone have any thoughts

To me it would be an indication that he is not that interested in it...Doesnt look good

LT: Why did you miss the previous PTI test
potential cadet: Forgot about it Sir....

Not a great start is it...
If your not in bed by 4 o' clock it's time to go home!

well he was away on hols and didnt get back home til the day of the test, so it technically wasnt his fault.

        strange

if he doesnt show up during selection it really reflects poorly on him and his interest in becoming an army officer.no doubt it will be a mitigating factor if he is to be considered leter on. i read that if you don`t show up at any stage then thats it.. your dropped. strange he got called back...
what decides how many cadets are taken each year.. `cos the numbers fluctuate. any reason?

It could come back to haunt him in the interview stage

cheetah, I would presume its because they don't need so many officers each year as differing numbers retire, get promoted and so on.

              your probably right mia..
it`s just if the standard is really good is there leeway in the numbers taken?
              also...
if selected is the 21 month course very intense?

Yes....from what I've heard of the course the NCO's down there don't pull any punches...unless someone from DÉ told them it was rude to swear at recruits and certainly extremely distasteful to smack them every so ofton.

Do you get to go home every so often at the start or released for matches if youre a county player?

Oh man, they'd love if anyone posted anything to identify themselves. Makes tracking you down and calling you in for a meeting without tea and biscuits all that much easier.

                              its the old story

boy doesnt care enough about anything to do test

doesnt respect anything enough to inform of reason why he missed test

of course the cadet school wants him, sure with that attitude he is practically a captain already

Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
                              The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
