You'll get them when and if you need them, but you'll more then likely have to give them back at the end of the day, you will sign them out and then give them back at the end. I know in my COY case they had 10 at the last camp which wasnt enough we were fighting over who got them.
Iv bought a set of British type camo Wet Gear but havent had the chance to test them yet. Iv seen some of our Bn Cadre with the DPM Wet Gear - look geat - cant see us getting them in our service life time
Assurance is credable and to be credable you'v got to show you can do it!!
When I was at the Eastern Brigade RDF shoot last month I saw a few RDF officers with DPM raingear.
You won't necessairly get them when you need them though. On that same day the lads on the falling plates team were absolutely soaked to the bone. They were standing in the rain for hours. Luckily enough I was able shelter in a transit. Wasn't good planning, especially in Kilbride where it usually seems to rain.
Some of us were never issued with the OG stuff. It was supposed to be on a pool stock basis but some of the units misread the direction and it was issued on a first come first seved basis.
I have purchase a set of Dutch goretex gear and it works fine...it might turn a few heads but I don't give a ****....at least I'll be dry for a change. If the DF don't want me wearing other army's surplus they should issue me with the correct stuff. Although I've my doubts about it...it looks a bit flimsy!
Covid 19 is not over ....it's still very real..Hand Hygiene, Social Distancing and Masks.. keep safe
You'd be told to wear them under your smock or get it off thats what would happen!
PDF recruits are still using OG wet gear why should a reservist get priority over them?
FIBD. Just like everything else people said ' Shiny stuff ' I'll have that. You do realise under DFRs anyone with wet gear signed out is financially responsible for the replacement cost. Also, more times than not the 'haves' in this question are the people least likely to be on the side of Table Mountain in the pissings of rain.
I tried saying this to people and I just got funny looks ' sure they can wear ponchos ' . Anyway.
Easiest control on this : RDF CQMS personal financial responsbile and audit once a year.
2nd, DPM wetsuits are NOT on RDF issue and in PDF are priority for O/Sea mission - as someone already said the recruits are using the newer OG stuff.
(that said, there's plenty of the OG Goretex stuff and if yer a masochist there's the old sweaty stuff )
I assume you can purchase your own gear?
Anyone know how much DPM wets cost?
"He is an enemy officer taken in battle and entitled to fair treatment."
"No, sir. He's a sergeant, and they don't deserve no respect at all, sir. I should know. They're cunning and artful, if they're any good. I wouldn't mind if he was an officer, sir. But sergeants are clever."
