According to An Cosantoir, all cav units are now issued with the short barrelled Steyr.
Yet I have never seen them with it. Has anyone else?

Its just a shorter barrell... there were a few pictures in an cosantoir. The wing use the shorter barrell also.

Andy, we all know its just a shorter barrel, we have seen the pictures. The question asked was about the cav and the alleged use by them of the short barrel ....... not about pictures or any other unit.
Concentrate a bit more please.

The PDF cav have them ...as seen on their young officers course last year but we baggers are still using the longbarrelled version.

Hey murf we should have them, get on to the Q to get a few for camp and the PSO.
Now all we need is a short barrel SRAAW, i almost hung meself getting in an out of the nissan with that damm thing last year!
Its clear Hawk hasnt worked from vehicles with weapons for any length of time if ever!Comment

Their not - its just a normal AUG A1 like all the rest of the DF uses (excepting tHe ARW AUG-P) but with 16'' barrels as opposed to standard 20''.
Thast one of the benefits of the weapon system you don't buy a whole one, just the reelvant useful part.

Just in relation to you implying that they just acquired new short barrels for the cav's steyr's,they purchased new rifles. The barrel is a serialled part of the weapon,you cant mix and match different serialled parts.Originally posted by SPOOKY

So if I'm using a rifle, and the barrel cracks, or develops some other fault that makes it unservicable, the DF needs to buy a whole new AUG, instead of just replacing the barrel for a new one?Originally posted by warlord
