As a brand new medical NCO I was repeatedly told by more senior NCOs that my unit did things differently to the rest of the FCA (no, really)- both in how recruits are taught to march (as in MOI) and how recruits are taught to march (as in how high to swing your arms, length of pace, timings etc etc). Thus evolves the windmill effect.
One weeks worth of MOI in the Glen may as well have been spent on the PS2 in my particular case.

Even if you were wrong you would never admit it front of the troops.

Guest repliedThis smells strongly of bullsh** Dougal, any NCO who can't do the halt wouldn't be there in the first place.More likely, he/she had been unable to attend for some time and had gone a bit rusty. And no, this is not what you can expect from the medics or anyone else. You should just worry about doing the halt yourself and you'l be fine

Any medic onc's I have seen are more than capable of controlling personnell under their command. I find it extremely difficult to believe that a cpl would allow or take instruction from a rookie.
p.dougal is asking a question. Please answer that question without resorting to snide comments.(Thats moderator territory.)
Regards etc

Yes, this is what all medics are like. Obviously lived a very secluded life in the DF. Maybe you should get out more. Jesus, some times the stupididty of some people on this board amazes me!

I was talking to a recruit the other day who used to be in the Civil Defence. She had to show her cpl how to do the halt properly! Is this what the medics are all about or should I be expecting more?
