Unless of course you are self employed... What with things being quiet and all it looks like it might be time to put 13 years service to some good use. Hmm 34th Bn. Whats the story with Fermoy? I thought it was mothballed.

There are 7 different units, from different Corps, with the number 62nd. God, people used to have a hard time telling the difference between the 7th infantry and the 7th FAR, this is going to be a nightmare.

        Hptmurph.

1: RDFRA response has gone up on their website.

        2. The only act that needs to be set up is the one that normally dispatches a unit overseas. The employment legislation is 'optional'

Well RACO have thrown down the gauntlet.

            From todays Irish Examiner

Brian O’Keeffe, of officers’ representative body RACO, said the organisation broadly agreed with the plan but have reservations about the use of reserve troops overseas.

Mr O’Keeffe said: “We do not have a difficulty with specialists, such as medical personnel or mechanics, but would have a problem with line soldiers, because lives are at stake and they would have to be up to standard.

“One thing that we would not countenance is permanent forces under the command of reserve officers.”

Incorrect Kermit. The establishment of the AD will remain unchanged. The AD will continue to be part of the "integrated" 1 ADR.

                  Enough of this.

Integration is possibly one of the biggest events to occur as regards the RDF and affects many members of this board.

Treat this forum and this thread with the respect it deserves. There is another thread in General into which you may post trivialities.

                  Regards etc

Well what I think of RACO in this case isn't suitable for this family forum.

sorry. have to walk away for a while.

On the RDF Training locations PDF map the 62nd Res Inf Bn will have a training location in Mount Merrion. Anyone any idea where this location is / will be?

                      RACO response is not surprising.

Hi Klick... it's actually misnamed ... it'll be in your backgarden.

Anyway, FWIW there's a lot to do.

                        RACO have their own interests.

11S&T moving to CB makes sense; should free up some room in MCKee anyway.

Ringsend to Tinahely is a big ol' area to cover !

With the amount of (legitimate) kit I've accumulated over the years maybe it will be possible to set up a trng location in my back yard!!

If RACO have a problem with RDF officers commanding PDF troops maybe RDFRA should say that they’ve a problem with PDF officers commanding RDF troops!

I don't think we would help matters by getting into a pissing contest i.e. "our officers are better then your officers" of course they are, they receive more training and better training then our officers but our officers have FAR more skills in areas like administration, IT, medical etc.

Any comments from PDFORA??? I would imagine something along the RACO response
SALUTE:- Formal if infrequently observed wave at an officer usually followed by "hows it going sir ?"

In light of the launch RDF Review Implementation Plan (RDF RIP.. love it!!) when actually will an Forsa Cosanta Aithiuil be renamed to Na hOglaigh Cultaca?

What exactly is necessary for this change to take place? Bravo20, would you know?

Today's Irish Times has an article about the launch of the RDFRIP. They name the Slua as the Naval Service Reserve, but the RDF maintain their FCA label..........
