Canada has a Reserve Forces day where all reservists are encouraged to turn up at their civilian jobs in appropriate uniform. (Dress uniform if in an office, fatigues or coveralls if blue-collar.. and so on)

I always thought that would be a good idea.

    NTM

I can see it now goldie, Words like ' Good God do you lot drink like this all the time' or how many pints is that you had':D Seriously, I for one believe that the RDF should be doing something along the lines that you have suggested Maybe not Paddys day due to the mayhem that goes with it everywhere packed ect, But on some other day in the year and make it a national event perhaps?

Would you consider it a good idea to hold an annual family day for the family, spouses or partners of members of the RDF?
Think about it for a while, you give up free time that you could be spending with them to endulge in your hobby of serving the state, and what do they get in return(apart from the peace and quiet of not having you about?)
I was thinking a day like Paddys day, after the Parade, when most of us are heading for the pub anyway, would it be nice to have some sort of display laid on, to show these people, without whose cooperation the organisation could not function, a chance to see what you do when training, where you go,and who you are with?
The Air Corps and Naval service already do this, and it also has the additional benifit of acting as an open day for potential recruits.
    Any Thoughts?
