  • Average Age for Recruit/Cadet

Being the trend of the board as of late I'll probably be redirected to another thread and be told to use the search function..

But as of late several of my friends and relatives have joined the Defence Forces and their ages range from 17 through to 23.

My question is in regard to the average age of those joining the PDF as either Cadets and Recruits. Would it be roughly the same? Or would the Cadet be that little bit older?

I believe most cadets join straight after the Leaving,or as soon as practical after it.

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

on a not so related topic...if somebody was to join the cadets after doing a degree course what sort of training would they have to do and what rank would they haveafter training

This puzzles me a lot as I've heard about it before. I'd like to know how they impress the interview panel in regards to experience in Leadership and Motivation when the usual School Leaver's experience doesn't extend beyond Business Studies and perhaps a part time job..?

That said, would the experience in the Reserve count to that degree?

unless its a direct entry, (use search function...) then you would do cadet training (see military.ie ). A degree just makes it that little bit easier to pass the cadetship competition.

after cadet training you become a 2nd luitenant(me no gud at inglish)
