  • DRAFT RDF Assignment Procedures

    This is a summary of the DRAFT assignment procedures for RDF officers, NCOs and privates within the new RDF, as circulated by RDFRA.

    Applicants for specific appointments must hold the substantive rank for it.
    NO RDF personnel will suffer loss of rank / entitlement to annual training

    OFFICERS:
    ROs will invite applicants to apply for positions
    COs will brief all officers & issue a copy of the procedures to all
    Officers must hold the substantive rank for the appointment & be recommended by CO

    Assignment Boards with take place in each Brigade/DFTC/NSR consisting of a Lt Col, PDF Comdt and RDF Comdt/Capt
    You can apply for a max of 3 appointments as advertised, this will be done by filling in a form

    Surplus officers assigned outside their geographic area will be attached to the nearest unit to home for admin/training purposes, with no loss of rights/entitlements. Surplus officers will be held as supernumerary, and can apply for appointments in integrated RDF.

    Officers will be selected based on:
    Review of personal file, Seniority (NOT THE DETERMINING FACTOR), COs Recommendation, Courses (including transitional), review of Special AF451A, ability to work in area, performance/potential, training camp attendance record, length & nature of service, experience, special qualifications required
    COs of Junior officers will recommend assignments based on the preference of the individual

    NCOs:
    ROs will invite applicants to apply for positions
    COs will brief all officers & issue a copy of the procedures to all
    Officers must hold the substantive rank for the appointment & be recommended by CO

    Assignment Boards with take place in each Brigade/DFTC/NSR consisting of a Comdt, PDF Comdt and 2 RDF Comdts
    You can apply for a max of 3 appointments as advertised, this will be done by filling in a form

    Surplus SNCOs assigned outside their geographic area will be attached to the nearest unit to home for admin/training purposes, with no loss of rights/entitlements. Surplus officers will be held as supernumerary, and can apply for appointments in integrated RDF.

    SNCOs will be selected based on:
    Review of personal file, Seniority (NOT THE DETERMINING FACTOR), COs Recommendation, Courses (including transitional), review of Special AF667, ability to work in area, performance/potential, attendance at training nights & annual camp, length & nature of service, experience, special qualifications required

    Unsuccessful JNCOs will be asked which unit they want to continue their service with.
