  • Kit Shortages

A three star with three years service goes to draw kit ...expecting a second trousers and shirt and possibly a set of No. 1s which at this stage it is reckoned that he is entitled to.

For his perseverance and dedication he is rewarded ...with a pair of socks....
what should he do now? Parade in the socks and nothing else calaiming that his uniform is no longer fit for parades?

    Thoughts please?

What said 3* gets depends on what the CQMS has demanded (via the Coy Commander) on the Private's behave, if the CO has authorised the demand and what is actually available in the store.

The 3* (or NCO etc) should try to find out what was demanded, what was authorised (using the AF 245(b)) and compare the 2 with what they received.

What was demanded was as outlined above...Iwould't have believed it had I not seen it.

You are suppose to get a second pair of trousers and second shirt, prior to your first camp.
You have to prove to the company commander that the uniform was damaged/destroyed due to fair wear and tear.

Therefore apply for 2 trousers and 2 shirts, one set to replace the worn out set and the other as the second issue.

My advice to stop problems with the clothing stores is to not draw anything.

well id say the NO1s are out unless there is some special reason for getting them , as for the shirt secound pants eventually they get so ratty and faded they are only suitable for ranges and should be replaced would i be wrong in saying ye have a very disintrested cadre staff, it isnt that much extra work

I wouldn't say that...the Q is a very dedicated man.....even the recruits got kit on this occasion. Its just the poor bastard with the size 36 waist and the size twelve boots will be sadly lacking for sometime.

say that could be the problem so every thing in army seems to be medium sizes , look for something larger or not norm and there are always problems, now people who waited months for size 12 boots, small smocks were almost impossiable to get couple years back now seems they are all small .
only thing he can do is keep requesting them until he gets them

XXL smock and size 12s ... they're usually in stock

It's the run-of-the mill stuff they run out of.

Note I had already flagged in an earlier thread the planned reduction in clothing expenditure for FY05. This was published in the Defence Estimates.

There was no reason given [ sensible, as I couldn't see a rational one apart from cost reduction ]

an extra pair of socks lucky fecker I was issued one pair and that was it, mightent sound like a big deal but im a foot slogger.
I would have thought sock issue to infantry would be fairly high.
would like to point out I bought my own sock after that.
