I was wondering cause you cann't see any mounts on any of the other helmets.

The article on the sniper competition in this month's An Cosantoir mentions a new night sight, the simrad.

Here's a link to the manufacturer's website, the article doesn't say which model is used.

The NV goggles (both types) come with a head harnes for wear without the helmet and a helmet bracket for wear with.The brackets/mounts are stored in the carrying case when not in use.

Does anyone know where one could purchase addition rank marking sliders as they are impossible to come by in my unit

there was a presentation to the COS last week on the proposed new helmets- tactical vests - water bottle - gloves- respirator-and helmet

so once he makes his decision in about 7 months time, then in a very quick 8 years all this stuff should be coming on line

I have seen the new tactical vests and helmets. They were used by this years PDF YO Course. The vests look very good, they also have lumbar support for your back which is a good feature. The helmets look like the americans.

I believe the respirators are coming into service in the near future, they are an improvement on the S11 british version.

The trials for the new vests, body armour & helmets are still on-going. The PDF YO's were used as part of the evaluation process & had several different types of each.

And the current and future Ministers talking about it for another 15 years. Why a new water bottle?

According to An Cosantoir a few months ago, the new Respirator is the British S12.

Why a new water bottle?

Probably because of the new Respirator.... requires a different fitting for the drinking tube.

Why a new water bottle?

The old respirator was issued with a drinking tube that had a waterbottle cap which screwed onto the issue waterbottle. The new respirator has a built in tube with a little plug thingy at the end that looks like it might connect to a platypus or some such.
