    what a great army to be in if your an officer

    1:460

    that barely rates a Lt Col
    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
    Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
    The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
    The best lack all conviction, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity.

      Surely for that man to do his job correctly the first thing he'd have to do is recommend that they fire him.....

        Thats a 1:460 ratio. No wonder we struggle to get decent kit in the NZDF.

            WE actually have no Generals currently, all the ranks mentioned earlier are sub-General level. Michael Collins was a General.

              The use of the term "General" is generic. On this thread we are assuming Nato OF-6 ranks or what are popularly termed as "One Star General" equivalent ranks and above. Ireland must of had one hell of a huge Army once to have had a full General.

                Think it was at least twice as large as now, but of course, then, there was no
                Naval Service, and a very limited Air Corps

                      That would have been the Reserve only
