For being a tit, nicking cartridges, more then likely lying to an officer, bringing the name of the battalion into disrepute, the list goes on..................
To close with and kill the enemy in all weather conditions, night and day and over any terrain
if you read the links you would answer your questions.......
and give him a bollicking for what?
I read a few of the posts but didn't see where he mentioned the raeson for the raid. So what was it?
Oh and after Saturday night I have come to the conclusion that we are policed by muppets. The fearless defenders of law and order raided the hackney drivers in Clonmel again. One of the drivers gave them a little guff and no less than 5 Gardai spent twenty minutes examining his car and writing tickets. It made the Gardai look stupid in the eyes of quite a few members of the public and not a few disparaging comments were passed about the GS. It looked very much like harrassment. Also the grossly fat cop from Thurles who harrasses the hackneys regularly should lose a couple of stone in case he ever has to chase a real criminal.
I still dont see what you would be giving him a bollocking for HavocIRL. He said most of his came from the MRC civie range. Even if they were mil brass, big swiniging donky balls. We leave brass anywhere we shoot its impossible to pick all of it up. I had plenty of brass before I was ever in the Army. Its only brass.
He was raided for reloading rifle shells for his own leagally held rifle. Reloading seems to be a big grey area of the law. Anyway the only thing they could charge him with was having brass as a component of ammunition (and therefore = ammo in the eyes of the law) that he didnt have a licence for (other calibers then his own).
Cops are wasting time and tax payers money on this one and I hope the judge see's it that way.
YJ might be able to comment further on the reloading issue.
Just an educated guess here, but it looks like he's a known scumbag and the cops are getting him any way they can. Or they just don't like him for some reason.
I'm pretty sure reloading cartridges is illegal in ROI- I vaguely recall conversation long past where I was told it was an anti-subversive measure, despite the fact that reloading was perfectly ok in NI, where the guy I was talking to got his cartridges reloaded. Presumably the NIO & RUC knew bloody well that hunting rifles were the least of their worries, a conclusion the GS & Dept of Justice have yet to reach, it seems.
Take these men and women for your example.
Like them, remember that posterity can only
be for the free; that freedom is the sure
possession of those who have the
courage to defend it.
