They can however have two week camps if they wanted.

I think my unit wilkl be having a summer week and then a winter week for camp next year.
It is only by contemplation of the incompetent that we can appreciate the difficulties and accomplishments of the competent.

Can the people who claim to have had two week camps clarify- is this one week of camp plus one week course, or a two week unit camp. There is a distinction- cause if you count 1 week of camp and one week of course as a two week camp, then I had two week camps every year in the FCA.

All units have been allowed run a two week camp for the past number of years. Some units have and some units have not. And JAG I am talking about a camp not a weeks camp and a weeks course. Courses can be of various lengths. Units have been inventive in how they arranged camps. Some have gone for a weeks recruit camp (either Easter or Autumn) and had a weeks normal camp in the summer. Some have gone for two straight weeks in the summer, others have combined camp and other requirements such as admin support for courses or PSO exercises. What essentially has happened is that the one week cap on annual training that existed in the late eighties and nineties has ceased to exist.

2 week continuous annual (summer) camp + 1 week easter camp in my unit, not all the same personnel.

The mandays are like confetty, we had a number of people doing duties for the All Army Fishing Competition in Tralee.

I stand corrected. And pleasantly surprised.

edit- PS, thanks for removing my insulting post. I had just thought better of it.

2nd edit- PPS, I stand by my comments about 2 Fd Medics as I knew them though, which post has also been removed, dammit.

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

It was a 2 week recruit camp and there were also 3 stars on camp for the 2 weeks (although some were only there for 1 week). If I remember right there was a 2 week recruit camp last year as well

i'd love for the unit i'm in to do two week annual camps in the summer.. alot more could be done an could be very beneficial. i understand that the 7th FAR and the 7th Bn do recruit camps and summer camps.. we don't do recruit camps
                        Cheers Bernard......

There is a good argument for 2 week camps.
but our summer camp this year was a disaster for a week, can't (and dont) want to imagine what chaos would be there if it was for 2 weeks!
But i've done two weeks this year, 1 on a recruit camp, and 1 in the summer
