Just wondering what the story is with dog tags in the Irish Defence Forces. Are they only issued if you go overseas or what? What type are they (US Army type or British round disc type)? What is written on them and what is the format?
For those of you so inclined, it's not hard to aquire your own , Protac and All Seasons in Newbridge sell blanks, Protack have a machine to stamp 'em, but any jewler would probally engrave them for a few bob.

The ones i was issued going to the leb were round .The new ones are u.s style.
