    U.K.
5 weekends (or 1 week) plus 2 weeks FTT

    New Zealand
2 days plus 38 days FTT

    Australia
    35 days FTT

    Canada
seems to be equivalent to 10 weeks but over nights, weekends and FTT

Assuming there is legislation in Oz and NZ to cover reservists being released from their civilian employment for over a month!!!

I like the UK model - focus on a set of basic tasks to be completed and get them used to military discipline. Shows a good amount of thinking and an understanding of the end product required, plus the delivery timelines. It seems to work too.

Here we lose no opportunity to stuff more in to our basic training.
