A huge battle has kicked off as Hamas has launched thousands of rockets against Israel and have effectively invaded Israel, at many points along the border. So far, casualties of around a thousand wounded and 200 dead are reported on the Israeli side and the amount of Palestinian casualties is not yet known, but it is said that at least 50 Israeli military and civilians have been kidnapped and taken to Gaza. Several tanks have been destroyed by drones or captured and set alight. The power station that supplies Gaza had been set alight. At least one Israeli military base has been over run.

This is going to get messy. Hamas caught the IDF totally off guard, crossed the border and took over one of their bases, judging by what's seen on social media. There seems to have been quite a few Israeli civilians killed or kidnapped also.
Bibi will get revenge, that's for certain. For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

Given how much effort the Israelis put into maintaining intelligence on Hamas and the rest, there has to be major questions as to how they totally missed signs of such a large scale multi angle attack like this, wonder how much the disruption of the social issues Isreal has had played a role? Some reports that even an IDF General has been taken hostage, let alone the large scale killings and postings on social media. There’s reports that Hezzbulah have announced they will join the attacks if the IDF enter the Strip, but either way the Reprisals are going to be massive and a lot more civilians are going to die.

For sure the Israelis will not take this lying down, without some form of a response"Well, stone me! We've had cocaine, bribery and Arsenal scoring two goals at home. But just when you thought there were truly no surprises left in football, Vinnie Jones turns out to be an international player!" (Jimmy Greaves)!"

MOD: Thread temporarily closed pending movement to the Worldwide conflict section."Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.
