  • 6 FAR Stand-Down

The stand-down of the 6 FAR took place in Ceannt Barracks, DFTC on Sunday last 30th Oct 2005. There was a large attendance of former members and many tall tales were told. Best of luck to the 62 Bty.

            Oops. I've said too much.

I too am interested in how the 25 pounder was broken?!?
As for the 6th FAR, I did my PNCO's course wit 2 of them. The nicest guys you can come accross, plus one of their PDF staff had a vintage dodge viper with a 7 litre engine and a kick ass flame paint job. He even had a jacket to match the paint job!!!

Well done the 6 FAR you had earned a reputation for some fine skills as Gunners over the years. You were the first RDF to fire the 105's and the long barreled 81mm ,you fired the HMG too. Yes , you were pretty good. You had a very good connection/relationship with the Depot & School . Good luck in the new 62 Fld Arty Regt (Reserve). The rumble is you have a GOH for a commissioning soon. I saw a Guard drawn from your Regiment some years ago and it was very well turned out very good drill Look forward to the beginning of a new Regiment bringing forward with you the traditions of some five Field Batteries who have between them the distinction of having fired every type of artillery piece used by the Corps, very best of luck in the future , Will look for you in the Glen next year and see your rounds on the ground which is where Gunners Everywhere are judged.
