  • Heavy Equipment for St. Patricks Day

    Hi all,

Im just checking the feasibility of organising a visit to my unit of some armour, trucks and a mowag or two for St. Patricks Day.

Has anyone here seen Mowags, Scorpions, AMLs, etc in any Paddy's Day parade before and if so, Id be really grateful to see some photos so I can prove to the elder pipped ones that it has happened in other areas around the country in previous years.

    Cheers!!

      Theirs not to make reply,
      Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:

Clue 1. No sprig of shamrock behind cap-badge.

Clue 2. No greenery in the crowd.

Clue 3. Right click on a picture and go into properties.

Carlow town have had scorpions in a couple of parades in the last few years. Tullow in Co. Carlow had a scorpion in 2004. Will dig up some photos for you.

Great stuff lads.. You know yourself, when you propose something to brass, you need evidence that they arent doing something that hasnt been done before. Thanks!

when did that happen , must ve been asleep at the time . mind you the only valid reason for a scorpion to be in tullow would be to flatten the place

                    could be privately owned

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

PDF 1 Arm Cav Scorpion with Iveco DROPS as transport.

                      See attached photos.

W1,2&3 are from Tullow 2004. W4&5 from Carlow Town not sure if 2001 or 2002

PS: Leave Tullow alone it just made the national news with the worlds largest/longest wedding dress.

Around 3 (??) years ago, Bray was to have a extensive military element with MOWAGs, 105s, etc etc. It was to be part of a PDF recruitment push. But the Chamber of Commerce decided to cancel the parade for the last few years due to funding problems.

To organise that is it a case of going through the chain of command, or just being cheeky and ringing the units in question and asking them to take part??

                            Chain of command, naturally...
"Well, stone me! We've had cocaine, bribery and Arsenal scoring two goals at home. But just when you thought there were truly no surprises left in football, Vinnie Jones turns out to be an international player!" (Jimmy Greaves)!"
