  • New Arms Drill Pending

    [MOD: Split Thread]

Certain Units have been tasked with either trying out new types of ceromonial dress- peak cap and sash for senior NCO

    or new arms drill

the reason the arms drill WILL be changed is that
    1- It looks shite
2- It makes a mess of the uniform collars
3- It destroys the medals and obsecures them

the new drill WILL for all intense purposes be very similar to the old FN drill and a bit of SA 80 drill-
there will be lots of Aistrigh Airm (change arm) in order to ensure that those with weak and puny girl like arms ( thats you slacker) wont be able to whinge and moan

the parade rest (for want of a better term) will be the same as the way our neighbours do it
and I am not talking about the murphy family in no 24

I have already posted about the cap

the sash and the Brigade Colour things are NOT set in stone

all thats holding all this up is- getting Sreehan to make a decision out of the eyes of the media

which for some reason is impossible for him

My unit did some of the old FN drill with the Steyr for a competition. It looked really good, the only problem is for tall people(getting the steyr from the resting postion on the ground) with the Steyr being so small. Everything else was grand to do, the changing arms on the march is the only challenging thing to do.

I think the sash and peaked caps will look really good all around
What are you cackling at, fatty? Too much pie, that's your problem.

I wonder will the stable belts be brought back. When we did the drill we had the grip/mag facing out.

(MODS- Any chance of a split thread here, this is starting to get interesting, but really off topic)

One problem with the shoulder arms with the Steyr as shown in that photo is that you would have a cocking handle sticking into your shoulder, and the optical sight would be very close to the neck of smaller people

is that a ginge i see before me? the danger in posting photos of the BA is there is bound to be an Irishman in the ranks. Remember Di's funeral. Lest we forget.
                Cannon to right of them,
                Cannon to left of them,
                Cannon in front of them
                Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
                Boldly they rode and well,
                Into the jaws of Death,
                Into the mouth of Hell
                Rode the six hundred.

RAMC note the Rod and Serpent cap badge could be a field hospital. It is a field hospital 34 in fact based at Strensall York.

Sash? Like a miss world type job, across the shoulder, in Orange/Yellow/Blue?
Ala British Army type sash- each Bde is to have there own colour so the sashes will be that colour-originnallly I THINK it was to be

                        blue for the west

                        Green for the south

yellow (think traffic warden for DFTC

                        red for the East

the drill that was practiced was akin to the FN drill

Red or Maroon sash through out army, none of these other girly colours. The next thing you will want is a matching hand bag to go with your rifle.
