  • Are you getting the correct issue of Kit?

Looking at all the mention of Gucci kit, I got to thinking, apart from Gucci kit, have we all been issued what we are supposed to have, and as often as you are supposed to?

As an Example, my last issue of Boots was in 2001. I'm pretty sure I should have got another pair since then? I never got issued the "combat" boot (25b) when they were on issue, in spite of the fact that I have been actively involved in almost every exercise, range practice, parade or training since that last issue.

I have not recieved any further issue of Uniform Kit since the initial issue of DPM, apart from the Norwegian shirt, which arrived late last year.(Thanks to Docman putting pressure on via the RDFRA).

So as an Example, When was the last time you got issued REPLACEMENT kit?

I have a bit over 18 months service.

I have been issued 3 pairs of trousers, 3 shirts (1 of each on enlistment and each summer camp), smock, field dressing, 3 pairs of socks, 3 or 4 tshirts (I've bought many more myself), 1 pair of 24Bs, 1 pair of Haix safety boots, beret, capbadge (staybrite, I hate them, so I bought a brass one), inner ear defenders, 1 rank marking slider, 1 norwegian

EDIT: Also, I have the forms for No1s, I'm currently waiting on the PDF to sort their act out so I can get them

sorry to bring internal bty debates into public but... WHY DO YOU WANT No. 1s? They are more trouble than they are worth.

Well at least you got your gear issued to you brand new. I got my first issue all PW and always get a bollickin' about smock because it is so faded & my beret.

Last piece of kit I got was a DPM shirt, 2 years ago - despite me having asked for a shirt for the No.1 uniform. I was looking at the RDFRA website, in the Scale Of Issue section...

                HERE....

Am unsure if this is across the board, or for Integrated Reserve, as it doesn't specify, but if it is, then I am sure that I am due the following:

                Another DPM smock
Another set of DPM uniform (shirt, trousers)
                Another beret with cap badge
A pair of black leather gloves
A set of lightweight operational boots (anyone know what these are?)
                Another kit bag
                A set of rank markings

I'd better have a look out the window and see if there are any flying pigs about. Also if our CQ is actually going to be in to do the job he was appointed to do.

You've done damn well to get all that after only 18 months....

The No1 forms I had to ask about, other than that, everything was handed to me. It's all down to your Q

Also, I've been issued 2 kitbags, I got one of the old ones, the stitching on it failed so I repaired it (it was ugly, but it did the job), told the Q, a few months later when the stores got more in he handed me a new, better quality one and asked me to bring the repaired one back so he could exchange it for another one (and I did bring it back)

Most likely parade boots. I have only heard of one member of the RDF being issued mendel combat boots ( he said it pays to really annoy the Q about them.) heavy operational boots are probably Haix safety boots.

                        No. No. No

Lightweight operational boots means operational boots which are lightweight, shockingly enough. Meant for summer/hot climate use, and most likely not waterproof.

Boots operational would be heavier, and waterproof.

Boots, safety, 25B are the Haix safety boots.

I have never once heard of the DF issuing Meindls. Haix, Lowa and Matterhorns yes, but never Meindls.

Last thiong I was issued with was a new pants but I have a feeling that was by mistake, i.e. Q meant it for someone else but it was given to me. That was last july before that it was a second pair of boots just before my pots course that was 2003.

A Cpl. in the 65th Bn in our bks. I am fairly sure that he told me that he was issued meindels. as I said MOST LIKELY leightweight operational boots are parade boots, meaning that I do not know for certain I am only giving my opinion on what the name means.

Now that I think of it, it might mean the Magnums that the Liberia lads get issued with...
