The 2000 reduction really just got rid of non effectives who didn't go overseas or on ATCP duties and quite often didn't do any duty at all. And since I was in the army 15 years ago I can tell you that we actually trained more then than today.

Just posting what I have been told.
And no, they are of no use to the army, I think the screening process should be a lot more rigorous, I done my entry for the PDF, and some 18 stone 17 year old got as far as the PT test, obviously he failed, but many more people who can run 1.5 miles and no more, shouldn't be allowed in. (Using weight and daily exercise as a guide to someones fitness level. If they look like they do nothing at home, they will do nothing in the army and will leave.)
