  • Whatever happened to OPSEC???

    http://www.1bderdf.com/bdenews.htm

Surely a website in the public domain is not the first place one should hear about a mobilisation?

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

Can't find where the in DFRs / the Defence Act it says how mobilisations are organised. As far as I can remember, it doesn't mention the internet but I think it does say newspapers.

from A.F. 390 "A proclamation calling out the Reserve Defence Force may take the form of an announcement by rte on televison and/or the radio. "
"Or of a mobilisation notice posted up in your district"

while this is from a instruction document for the 1st line reserve i assume calling out the rdf would be along similar lines. Interestingly it makes the point that regardless of the type of notice YOU MUST comply with the instructions and report to your nearest assigned location

Prominent members from 4 different units that I spoke to know nothing about it.

the one that gives you a uniform and a pair of boots and sends you on your way, oscasioally giving out '58 pattern webbing if you REALLY need it, and PLCE that will fall apart if you are going on exercise with the PDF....its called the RDF

Of course most units were on "holidays" up to recently also. That never helps.

It certainly has some very important information!!!!!

Sam Browne Belts - August 2006

Approval has been granted for Officers of the RDF to wear Sam Browne Belts as part of their Service Dress No 1. The necessary amendments to Dress Instruction and to Administrative Instruction L3 will be promulgated in due course. Funding for the provision of belts is currently under discussion. Pending the conclusion of these discussions, RDF officers who are currently in possession of Sam Browne belts are now authorised to wear them.
                              Meh.
