Congratulations to the 5 Cadets who were Commissioned as Ensigns in the Naval service earlier this week.
Included in the Class was Ensign Aisling O'Flynn, Daughter of PO/SBA Danny O'Flynn. Possibly the first time the Offspring of a Non Comissioned officer in the Naval service has become an Officer?

good luck to her - Danny and his brother both served on P31 sound guys?
heard above on seascapes last night - no much info from the minister of defence on where money for new ships is coming from on rte radio last night??
I think what stu is saying is that Sub Lt Fox Joined the NS as a cadet, but under the new system on commissioning, cadets who are already graduates of another 3rd level institution get promoted directly to Sub, rather than ensign, and don't have to go to college again when the finish in NMCI.

Just for information, the Commissioned new officers are:
Brendan Curtin, Valentia, Co Kerry
Aisling O'Flynn, Cathedral Road, Cork
Shane Mulcahy, Watergrasshill, Cork
Colm Fox, Dublin
Niall Kelly, Cobh, Co Cork.
