      Both of them?

      Is there enough room?

It'll be the most unsuccessful sales promotion ever!

            You never know...

An EPV based on the smaller ENFORCER design and a couple of OPVs based on the SIGMA corvettes? The Dutch are aware of the kind of money the Naval Service have to spend, so maybe they're going to offer a package deal....

                Question 3
Are proposals for vessels which do not conform to the vessel dimensions set out in Appendix A and/or B of the RFP acceptable.

                Answer 3
No. Vessels must be within the range of dimensions set out in the “Statement of Requirements” set out in Appendix A and/or B of the RFP.

                Rotterdam Class
                Length: 166.20 m
                Beam: 25.00 m
                Draft: 5.80 m

                EPV Specifications
                Length 130 – 140M
                Beam 16-20 m
                Draft 4.0- 5.0 m

This tender better not go the way of the S90's......

Who said they were trying to sell us that class?

No-one, I just find bringing in two vessels of a separate class to the one specified in the tender, in order to sell one which would, a slightly unusual sales strategy to be honest.

If it's just a display of the prowess of Schelde/Dutch ship building in general, would one not have sufficed?

When I saw the dimensions I had visions of the other contenders crying foul if it had been selected, culminating in a cancellation and no EPV.

Anyway, leaving my slight paranoia to the side, it'll be interesting to see how this pans out.

its not really the ships design or spec's thats on show, the shipyard were they were built sponsered the trip, the 'yard' are doing a sales pitch for the new contacts

Exactly techman. The arrival of two of the yards recent builds, combined with the fact the Irish DF already operated with Rotterdam, is merely a suitable location for any sales pitch, with a chance to view the build quality at the same time.

The ability for the builder to provide is what is being paraded not the actual ships.

So we can assume(and only assume for now) that that was Damen/Royal Scheldes pitch. Who is next?

Well Vospers made their pitch in Waterford a few weeks back in relation to OPV's albeit very quietly.
