Oh and it replaces the 2 that are currently on L.E. Eithne. They'll tie in to all the other sensor suite aboard too including AIS, and Navigation and fire control radar. The Unit must have been provided to at least 3 other Navies by the successful bidder.
Interesting to see the NS are doing a lot of their Procurement away from the DoD.

How come the Air Corps aren't doing the same, or have I just not seen it? Is there a ceiling? I'm thinking about the proposed NSR training craft...Can the NS do their own thing up to a certain amount before they need to get the DoD involved? Who is responsible for financing?

Replacement Radar Displays - Irish Naval Service

To supply, install and commission replacement Radar displays on board Irish Naval vessels L.E. EITHNE, L.E. AISLING and L.E. AOIFE.
Displays will replace existing Kelvin Hughes Nucleus 2 displays.
Displays must be compatible with existing transceivers as fitted on board the 3 vessels(2 x MK IV S-Band, 1 x MK VI X-Band).
Equipment to be mounted on suitable shock mountings.
Separate quotes are required for table mounted and pedestal mounted display options.
I can remember the only way you could view the CRT display was either in a curtained off darkroom, or using a cone over the display.
