I received my Winter edition of the RNLI magazine ' The Lifeboat ' this morning.
A great 2 page spread on the crew of Castletownbere who went to the aid of a a lone skipper who had fractured his ribs some 90 miles SW off the Irish Coast in severe gales.
The Bere lifeboat, along with Valentia are definitely on the coalface. When everyone else is heading for shelter from the weather and the sea, and the comfort of a warm fire in a dry hostelry, these men are usually heading out into the worst of it, to assist those in peril.
And all funded by charitable donations only.
Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.
