Ferdia and Setanta -
Ferdia was leased for a year.
Setanta was in service from 1976 to 1984 - but does anyone have a commisioning date for either?
Any research I have done for the NS section of the main website has drawn a blank for this information, if you do track it down I would be delighted to recieve the info and add it to the main website.
There were four cadets commisioned at the same time with the ship at the Oil Wharf.
Charlie Grant, Shane Anderson, Gerry O Donoghue, and Martin Gibbons. Martin was the nephew of the former Minister for Defence Jim Gibbons. The Minister on the day was Paddy Donegan (Thundering Disgrace) and in the course of his speech he referred to Martins uncle being with Fianna Fail ,but said he wouldnt hold that against Martin.
