Those 2 ships will be used as a vote catcher for michael smith for as long as he can draw breath. He is apparently the first minister to see 2 naval vessels be built during his term in the Post of Minister for defence. And thats it till Emer is due to retire in 2008,followed closely by Aoife and Aisling. But the white paper has set he fleet at 8 ships,and unfortunatly that seems to be one of the elements of the white paper that the government is willing to stick to..
