Sorry, the old eyesight is not what it used to be, I thought I was posting this question in the OPV Replacement thread.
Many thanks for the answer, just makes me more confused as to why we are not going down this route (along with air surveillance radar etc). From what I've read we are talking about tens of million EURO, not hundreds of millions. If I remember correctly our old friend Ancient Mariner saying we had ASW capability on the corvettes.Comment

There are numerous low cost options available out there, just requiring a bit of imagination, but we don't do joined up thinking here. Its almost 10 years since the first P60 arrived fitted for but not with Air Search radar, and designed without a helideck, instead putting 3 TEU spots and an Effer crane where everyone else would put a helideck. These TEU spots have never been used for anything other than the Diving unit TEU since, or a standard storage container. The potential these ships suggested has never been capitalised on.Originally posted by ias View Post

IPVs have lots of space, reportedly good seaboats, saw a lot of work underway( but the dog kennels onboard may go!). V promising protectors of ORE in Irish ,E Celtic Seas, may well prove a bargain

About time for them. If it's like for like replacement then it's at least 10 ships, which should drive the unit cost down dramatically, and hopefully open up the design to other navies, such as Greece.For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.Comment
