                  Play stations

                  Nintendo DS's

                  lads sitting watching films on Lap tops

                  there is no crackon guard any more ( not that there was that much)
                  Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
                  Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
                  The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
                  The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
                  The best lack all conviction, while the worst
                  Are full of passionate intensity.

                    I am only guessing now, being a few years away from it, but you would be hard pressed to find people in the mess at night. All in cabins with X-Boxes, PS 3, laptops. Some ships even have the XBoxes networked so you can play shipwide from your cabin!

                      Re the original question, have a look here http://www.esatclear.ie/~mmullins/ejm/ for some info on Malin/Valentia Costal Radio Stations. Valentia transmitted it's last cw msg on 01 Feb 1999.
