Well if the Canadians can have a ship named the Shawinigan I think the name for the next Irish Naval ship should be the L.E. Shananigan .
Don't spit in my Bouillabaisse .

Yeah the Eithne aint pretty short stubby bow....gun deck looks outta place and she seems to be bent upwards in the middle...although she is prettier that some of the russian krivak class corvettesand some osa class FPBs....Mow the PVs thats a different story ...they even look sleek!

She is bent upwards in the middle as are all the decks below from midships forward.
There was a cargo crane port side on the gun deck which was removed befor the ship was handed over.

Nice pics Goldie, that Finnish ship FS Pojhanmaa appears to have X and Y turrets. does it have A and B turrets too? Have not seen that kind of configuration for ages.

Its main armament is the same as Eithne,a 57mm also in the B position.

                          The X and Y armament is 40mm

as well as at least one of these on the waist

I understand she is classed as a Minelayer. I presume this is what they are for. The scandanavians are fond of that kind of thing, and Karlskrona had similar, though larger doors.
