Once the DF withdraw from Chad & Kosovo (and reduced in Bosnia), the DF will need somewhere to serve.
Ideally the Government will be looking at a "blue-helmet" mission as we don't have the money to do the likes of EU or NATO (UN-mandated) missions on a big scale.
Is it not a case of waiting for a request from the Security Council to take part in a mission that is about to begin. Have we ever joined a mission that was already underway???
If so is it not simply a case of shortlisting the places the UN are likely to ride into next

I can honestly see the Govt choosing to take a wee little break from large ops for atleast 3 or 4, and then when they realize how much that saves them they'll send c250 overseas at any one time, I doubt the Govt. would lose much sleep by not meeting its UN manning commitment
I have heard as well that the UNSC are seeking to up the strength of this one

Overseas service either makes or breaks a young lad
I know one young lad who went overseas a klutz and came back one of the best Soldiers we have
(not me I did the reverse)
Its like training in Templemore and then never leaving Store street cop shop
