A full HQ Company is near 200 bods not 12, which would be the strength of a Bn HQ. So is an Irish Lt Col going to command a multi national battalion or what?
Let's hope our troops don't have their hands tied behind their backs (again). I doubt the concept of COD 6 has ever occurred to any African with an attitude and a Kalashnikov.

Were there any such restrictions that exist in most UN missions regarding use of force these days that were in action in the Congo in 1960 with ONUC? Or did the troops have more 'robust' rules of engagement?

The DF won't benefit especially from Liberia as aopposed to Kosovo, unless something goes horribly wrong it won't really be considered much of a news item.
The general opinion given is that the Militias won't be particularly dangerous to regular troops on account of a lack of heavy equipment or local support.
