No, a reservist of any rank (with special qualifications) can be RECOMMENDED by CO & then OC Bde RDF for the officers course, but normally NCOs are selected, after the Pre Pot Officers Course (year 1) many units promote Corporals on the course to Sergeant.Last edited by DeV; 12 October 2004, 23:43.

Would I be correct in assuming that you have to be a Sgt in order to apply for the Officers Course?

Guest repliedlike all RDF courses, the standard of students will be very variable. If he is relatively fit and knows his stuff, has an officer who did it recently and can fill him in he will be just fine!
most of the basics can be studied in advance and that makes it easier.
the level of physical training varies, depending if the course has a PTI associated or not. some courses do f%$£ all physical stuff, others seem to do nothing but.
all in all, he should be fine.

he has to survive the lobotomy at the end of the course and then promptly forget every thing he had learned as an enlisted man.

Potential Officer's Course
Hi there,
A guy in my unit is going on the PO's course this year. What's the course like? Is it physically and mentally demanding, like an NCOs course?
He is only looking for a general idea of what the course is like and what to expect, so no indepth info needed.
Cheers.Tags: None
