Start running 10K's every two days. Doing them in 45 - 50mins would be ideal. Increase your press up and sit up count. You will do fitness assessments in the first few weeks.
The fitness training won't be hectic really for a while but if you go there fit it will give you an advantage. Your body as a whole will be stronger which will help you deal with the long busy days.
