Cases involving service personnel accused of serious offences, including murder, manslaughter and rape, have to be tried in civilian courts if committed within the UK as military courts have no jurisdiction.

The Chief Prosecutor for the CPS in Hampshire discussed with the director of service prosecutions after the incident had happened. It was agreed the case be tried in a civilian court.

Thanks for that, picture overall remains a bit unclear.
What is clear is the CMs are used where the matter concerns mil law ie items which only mil personnel can commit such as awols/desertion/insubordination etc, still a bit foggy where victims are civvies, poss political implications come into reckoning.
