Hiroshima bomb pilot dies aged 92

The commander of the B-29 plane that dropped the first atomic bomb, on Hiroshima in Japan in World War II, has died at the age of 92. Paul Warfield Tibbets Jr died at his home in Columbus, Ohio.
On the 60th anniversary of the bombing, the three surviving crew members of the Enola Gay said they had "no regrets".

It must be said that their actions probably done more for world peace than a million anti war protestors would ever manage. The threat of "the bomb" stopped many a big disagreement between the super powers becoming a big war.

the Yanks reckoned on a million casualties and the war continuing into 1946, if they had to invade the Japanese home islands.Tough call to make but probably worth it, to nail the Japs.
