  • A new book about War Graves in Ireland.

    Hello all
From yesterday's Irish Times, a very long and comprehensive article, by Heather Jones, about a new book called "Remembering the war dead: british, Commonwealth and international war graves in Ireland since 1914" by Fergus A Darcy, OPW, 457 pgs, E22.00
    regards

Yes, it was launched at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham about three months back. A very thorough and attractive large format book about the history of the CWGC graves in Ireland. Considering that this is a specialised area within the whole spectrum of Irish military history it seems a very full treatment indeed and full marks to the OPW/Irish Government for coming up with such a publication.

It is in Glencree Co. Wicklow, just past the Reconciliation Centre on the opposite side of the road and beside what was the An Oige Youth Hostel (ah what memories of it) The cemetery which was a quarry, is extremely well kept and is a most serene setting.
