Hello all
From yesterday's Irish Times, a very long and comprehensive article, by Heather Jones, about a new book called "Remembering the war dead: british, Commonwealth and international war graves in Ireland since 1914" by Fergus A Darcy, OPW, 457 pgs, E22.00
regards
GttC
Yes, it was launched at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham about three months back. A very thorough and attractive large format book about the history of the CWGC graves in Ireland. Considering that this is a specialised area within the whole spectrum of Irish military history it seems a very full treatment indeed and full marks to the OPW/Irish Government for coming up with such a publication.
Just got the book actually, its a good read if its relevant to you, i used it mainly to research family other than that i doubt you'd want it its hardly a coffee table book....
i heard there are german graves in dublin / wicklow
if so can you tell me where they are, i would like to visit them
It is in Glencree Co. Wicklow, just past the Reconciliation Centre on the opposite side of the road and beside what was the An Oige Youth Hostel (ah what memories of it) The cemetery which was a quarry, is extremely well kept and is a most serene setting.
