    Next Friday 28 March 2008 at 2030 hrs

    RTE's War Stories are covering the Niemba Ambush

    It looks quiet good
    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
    Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
    The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
    The best lack all conviction, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity.

    Hi there
    the one about the Korean war veterans was very good.What happened after they got home beggars belief, when they were denied services from the veterans' relief organisations because "it wasn't a war, it was a police action".

      My dad used to talk about a neighbour of ours who fought in WW2 and Korea.

      He was in the Royal Inniskilling Fusilers during WW2, was demobbed, only to find himself, to his extreme displeasure, recalled as a reservist for Korea.

      He came home as grey as a rat (he was in his early 30's), and maintained that WW2 was only a game compared to Korea.

      Died a youngish man too.

        An excellent, if short show. My only complaint is some of the file footage was from other UN missions. Next week they speak to veterans of Jadotville.

        Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.
