  • Boy Scouts / Baden-Powell

I'm currently researching the History of Scouting in the Parish of Aughrim Street. The current Scout Group will celebrate its 75th. Anniversary in 2012.

I am aware that the founder of the Scout Movement, Robert Baden-Powell served in Ireland on at least three occasions. 1893 (Ballincollig), 1896 and 1897 (Marlborough Barracks, Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin)

I'm looking for assistance as to where he might have lived while serving in Dublin as I understand that he never 'lived in' (but this may not be true).

I'm also looking for a photograph of Marlborough Barracks around that time.

There may also have been a Boy Scout Troop in the Royal Hibernian Military Academy in the Phoenix Park. Where could I get more information on this institution (incl. a photo)?

There was also a Scout Troop in the Bluecoat School, Blackhall Place. Had this school any military links?

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

This is the current St. Mary's Hospital.

I think it might have - I think the green space betwen the school and the barracks changed hands at various times.
