You could obtain his service record from the Army Personnel Centre Secretariat, in Glasgow but there are a few hurdles involved.

anyhoo, during the conversation he made mention of his uncle who had served during WW2 with the British forces as either a driver or gunner in a tank and was injured whilst taking part in the Normandy landings.

I'm trying to get more information on this as I am doing a family history search a la 'who do you think you are?'

I've done the google search thing and got very little except for the order of battle, specific units used and overall numbers of injured, but nowhere can I find the names of personnel involved.

I would be very grateful for any pointers / assists if possible.

Hi, not much in the way of poster here, so forgive me for any errors!!

I was talking to my Dad this evening and we were talking things military, he, about his time on full-time LDF/ FCA in his youth and me, regarding my upcoming retirement from the PDF.
