  • A Co 38th Infantry Battalion / Dublin Guards

Hi, I'm new to this so hope I'm posting this in the correct section.

I'm doing research on my late father who was with the above companies - initially in the Dublin Guards between Mar 1922 & Feb 1923. He later served with the 38th based in Cork ( Mallow & possibly Bantry, I believe) until Mar 1924.

I'm trying to find out what actions, if any, he may have been involved with during those years or indeed any information on life in the army at that time.

Any information, or directions as to where best to look, would be very much appreciated.
    Many thanks

    Liam,

    Welcome to the board

Yes, you're posting in the right section

RE: your father's service in the Irish Army, a starting point would be the
    Military Archives:

Regarding your father's service in the British Army, I wouldn't be sure

If he had died in British service, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission
would have been a good starting point, but as he didn't, that's not
    applicable

But believe me when I tell you that there are no shortage of members on the
board who WILL know where to look, and will point you in the right direction
    in due course
