As a new member, hope it's ok to put up two postings on the same day.....
I believe a memorial was planned in the late 1940s to commerorate the attack by the 2nd Bat. Dublin Brigade on the Custom House in 1921.
I've tracked down that drawings were completed by a V G Innes. The following appears on a website for an auction house relating to a sale in 1999
"Architectural Plan, proposed memorial to the men of the Second Batallion Dublin Brigade Old IRA, to be erected at the customs house Dublin, V.G. Innes Sculptor EXSGT Corps Of Egineers, 178 Pearse Street, Dublin"
Unfortunately, there is no picture attached.
Would anbody know what the memorial was supposed to look like, or more importantly, why it didn't go ahead?
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
