  • Rum Flagoon

When in France last year, I bought a two tone (cream and buff) rum flagoon excavated from the trenches.

It has S.R.D wriiten across the top front, and C Philips & Sons, Castleford stamped on the front bottom.

Anyone have any idea what S.R.D. stands for ?

It makes a nice ornament in the living room !

    'Supply Reserve Depot'

The S.R.D. jars were originally used to dispense a tot of rum from, but were also used for carrying oil, ink, disinfectant, and of course they may have carried other things as well.
