  • Dublin Fusellers

I was paying the museum of modern art in Kilmainham a vist on Saturday
and discovered a Room" just behind the main reception
and was pleasantly surprised it contained a exhibition dedicated to the
ROYAL DUBLIN FUSILIERS. small but it's history medals and personnall items and accounts from the men. very moving and good to see it.

            There go the Dublin Fusiliers,
            The dirty old bamboozeleers,
De Wet'll kill them chiselers, one, two, three.
            Marching from the Linen Hall
            There's one for every cannonball,
And Vicky's going to send them all, o'er the sea.

I think De Wet means Christiaan de Wet the Boer Rebel.

He may have been a guerilla, but he was no rebel, after all the british invaded his country....
              But there's no danger
              It's a professional career
              Though it could be arranged
With just a word in Mr. Churchill's ear
If you're out of luck you're out of work
We could send you to johannesburg.

                    The Netherlands? When?

Shouldn't this be in the History section?

I think he is refering to South Africa!!

                      As in the Boer war???
Without supplies no army is brave.

                        You think?

My issue is with turbocalves referring to South Africa as De Wet's "country" when he or his ancestors had stolen it from the aboriginals. Mr De Wet had no more right to South Africa than the British.
