I have seen reference to a 75mm artillery piece used by the army during the emergency. Does anyone know what this gun was I am wondering if it was the French Canon de 75 modèle 1897.

According to JP Duggan's book, 18 were purchased in 41-42, no other info. -

There's a working French "75" in the Railway Museum, Dromod.It's on loan from the DF.

From what I can find about FCA Artillery is they used 18 Pounders, 4.5 Inch guns, 120mm Mortars and 25 Pounders.Comment

Hi there,
The DF had the Springfield and the Ross Rifle, as far as I know. The American weapon was in .30-06 and the Ross was a .303 but was regarded as unreliable when firing British-made .303.It preferred a diet of Canadian rounds but there was a very limited supply of same.They were issued to the LDF, so I was told.
