The location of Fort Shannon is at Ardmore Point - across the Money Point Generating Station: R 03.20 - 48.95 (Discovery series 64), 4 km west of Tarbert Island. A small road to Carhoonakineely.Comment

Wilco, I dont think it existed during the 1919-21, it was a purpose-built Emergency era fort built as new, unlike the treaty forts which were adapted from earlier Napoleonic era fortifications.
Is Fort Shannon still DoD property or was it sold off to local farmer?Comment

Cheers CP, a previous link in the thread threw me off the time line
so it was built too keep out the germans/allies....... shame to build it and then leave it to ruin a year after the end of WWIIComment
